Dark Ages, what if?

Ok, so I watch the History Channel alot.  Well I saw this thing on the Dark Ages, and how they weren't "dark" per say, but they were defintely not a good time to be a peaseant.  (As if there is ever a good time right?).

Anyways, if you think about it, We went from Rome, where they had Roads, running water, etc, to where basically everyone forgot all the technology and things.  This was mainly because they had more important things to worry about - such as surviving.

But the real question is simple - what would have happened if the Western Roman Empire hadn't fallen into crap?  Just think about where we could be -- we lost probably 900 years of civilivation (call it 476 to 1300 or so) before society rebounded back to where it was.  Can you imagine what it would be like now, if we had continued advancing from the Roman times to now?    And the Romans could throw a party too!

Well I was just thinking about that.

New News and other New Things, but now Gnewts

Hello. Welcome from the new place on the new internet. Its really cool. You should try it sometime. I'm not going to write anything useful here, because I'm busy getting ready to go out into the real wold and enjoy the beautiful day that is today. Its 75, sunny and no rain is forecast. You can't stay in and write things on a crazy web log that way. In case you were wondering Barton won the NCAA Division II National Title for the Men and I think it was South Connecticut State won the Div II Women's Title. If you want to know who is going to win the Division I Women's National Title, I can tell you its going to be Purdue (Watch their game on ESPN2 tonight at 7 eastern). As for the Men's team, well they lost to Florida, but put in a good showing. We'll get them next year.

In other news, I'm moving to Idaho. Its an awesome place. Next time you read this, I'll be in Idaho probably. It'll probably be another few months of course. Lots of things to arrange and pack up. Well time to go outside, enjoy sitting in your mom's basement all day.

Oh, and never buy a Dell. They are bad

Other Updates

Well since I'm here, I figure I'll put out a few little updates, since I haven't done so since May 11.

May was a big month. I asked Tammy to marry me and she said yes, so we've spent the last... oh I don't know 4 months or so planning the big day. It'll be next summer. When I was on the side of this decision, considering it, I was like "Oh shit, what if I screw this one up? This is the one decision you really don't get a mulligan on" But now that I've done it, and of course I continue to evaluate it, the more I come to believe, that I've actually made the right decision. And because I know I'm right (happens frequently you see ), I don't even worry about it.

Other than that, not much other really big or exciting news. The world appears to be heading downhill, but so are gas prices.

Oh yes, there is more important news. Purdue is 3-0, after defeating Indiana State 60-35, Miami of Ohio 38-31 (OT), and Ball State (38-28). While being 3-0 is a good thing, I'm pretty sure we're going to have a tough time from here on out. Our schedule looks like this: Minnesota (H), Notre Dame (A), Iowa (A), Northwestern (A), Wisconsin (H), Penn State (H), Michigan State (A), Illinois (A), Indiana (H), Hawaii (A). While we dont' play Michigan or Ohio State, there are still alot of good teams on that list. Add to that the fact that the Purdue Secondary is very young (Miami of Ohio had 485 total offensive yards, 385 of that came through the air) and you can see the equation getting tough right about now.

I'll keep you posted though on how thats going.

In about 2 weeks is the Chicago Half Marathon.......... and I'm not running it. However, my friend Ben and his wife Rachel will be in town to run it, so I'll get to see them and it'll be good times.

That's it, I ned to sleep, gotta go to work in the morning!

Go Purdue! Boiler Up!

Dog the Bounty Hunter

I'm sure if you haven't seen it, you've at least heard of the show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" on A & E. If you haven't, its a reality TV show about a bounty hunter. So he spends his day arresting the people who jump bond and could be a menace to society. I found out today that backin 2003 or 2004 he went to Mexico to apprehend a rapist who had been convicted of something like 86 counts of rape. However, aparently Bounty Hunting is illegal in Mexico. Dog managed to have the serial rapist (Stephen Luster) brought back to the US but he was arrested by the Mexican Authorities. He was released from Mexico on bail and returned to the US. That was all 2 or 3 years ago.

On Sept 14, US Marshalls arrested him at his home. Apparently Mexico wants him back.

Also, recently in Chicago, an illegal immigrant is holed up in a church protesting attempts to deport her back to Mexico. Of course, no one wants to go arrest her because "it'll look bad on camera"

So Let me get this straight, the US Government won't arrest an illegal immigrant even though they know where she is, but they'll take the time to arrest a Bounty Hunter who brought a seral rapist to justice? Is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with the priorities here?

Not only does this really piss me off that the US Government would do something this stupid, and are too chicken to arrest an illegal immigrant (yes she has a family, but she's already been kicked out twice, and if she hadn't broken the law we wouldn't have to deport her..... again). Instead, they waste taxpayer money going after a man who may have helped protect society. Not only that, but last time I checked in on the situation in Mexico, they appear on the verge of a civil war between the two Presidential candidates. The loser is planning on forming a "parallel" government.

This also brings up another topic, if the Mexican government would do something about the conditions of the majority of its people, they wouldn't have to come up here and cause problems and not pay taxes. This just really makes me mad.

If the US Government isn't going to arrest Mexicans that do illegal things here, why should we send back a person who did 1 illegal thing in Mexico. Normally I'm all for, you committed the crime, you do the time. But in this case, I'm making an exception.
